milk + honey is looking for a Controller or Accounting Manager who is responsible for taking a hands on approach to all aspects of the company’s accounting and finance and will report directly to the CEO.  This individual will drive the month-end and year-end close process, accruals, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable and postings to the general ledger. The successful candidate will be highly analytical and detail oriented.
Essential Duties:
  • Ensure timely and complete financial statements
  • Provide financial and operating metrics to team
  • Create the annual budget and forecasts in collaboration with leadership team
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide financial analyses for capital investments
  • Create effective spending controls within the business
  • Produce and manage weekly cash flow projections
  • Develop a system for tracking inventory and estimating turns and cost
  • Create and maintain accounting policies and procedures, such as a Travel and Expense Policy
  • Work with external auditors on financial audits
  • Monitor debt levels and ensure compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Manage and mentor Staff Accountant
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field; CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years general accounting experience; experience as controller and managing accounting resources
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of internal controls
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Spreadsheets and Quickbooks
